Stock Market Commentary Financial markets are supposed to act like discounting mechanisms which use the wisdom of the crowd to anticipate important events. The stock market stalled and then broke down ahead of the election. Excluding a last minute rush to buy on election day, I assumed the stock market might have a muted reaction … Read more

Implications of A Looming End to Overbought Conditions – The Market Breadth

Stock Market Commentary Just one day after stocks narrowly avoided bearish conditions, a looming end to this extended overbought rally brought the stock market right back to the edge. Market breadth is at its lowest point since the overbought period began over a month ago. This tension means that the market may become less willing … Read more

Stocks Narrowly Avoid Bearish Conditions - The Market Breadth

Stock Market Commentary Last month, the stock market seemed to conclude that the threat of inflation had all but disappeared. Given the resulting celebration is one of the key drivers of the current extended overbought rally, today’s report on December’s CPI (Consumer Price Index) took on some significance. So when CPI missed “expectations” on the … Read more

Riding the Bitcoin Trend: Buy-the-Dip Strategy for BTC/USD

On Friday, September 7, at 9:30 a.m., a parachute test for a future mission to Mars successfully launched on a NASA Black Brant IX suborbital sounding rocket from Wallops Flight Facility. The rocket carried the Advanced Supersonic Parachute Inflation Research Experiment (ASPIRE) from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California. The payload is a bullet-nosed, cylindrical structure holding a supersonic parachute, the parachute's deployment mechanism, and the test's high-definition instrumentation, including cameras, to record data. The payload descended by parachute and splashed-down in the Atlantic Ocean 28 miles from Wallops Island. The parachute was successfully recovered and returned to Wallops for data retrieval and inspection.

Assuming … Read more

Support Melting for Bitcoin and Ethereum

At the time of typing, a steep sell-off continues in Bitcoin (BTC/USD) and Ethereum (ETH/USD). Typically, I would jump in and accumulate some more of either or both cryptocurrencies. However, after I took a step back to review the charts, I realized Bitcoin and Ethereum are in precarious positions with support melting away. Both cryptocurrencies … Read more

Bitcoin: From Boring to Bursting to A Surprising Short

Bitcoin Boring Bitcoin (BTC/USD) was pretty boring until this past weekend. After neatly failing at resistance from its 200-day moving average (DMA) in late March, BTC/USD settled back into what was starting to look like an extended trading range. However, the pressures of the bear market and a soaring U.S. dollar (DXY) proved too much … Read more

Bitcoin: A Tale of Two Plunges Clear A 2022 Pathway

Back in October and November, Bitcoin (BTC/USD) created renewed excitement when the cryptocurrency challenged its all-time high and then set three new all-time highs. Unfortunately, the breakout turned into a fakeout. Bitcoin peaked with the NASDAQ (QQQ) in November as financial markets moved away from aggressively priced risk assets. However, a more sustainable bottom may … Read more
