Kim Fields: Driven to Success, Inspired to Thrive
Last year, Kim Fields did an emotional interview with Kara Mayer Robinson on the Really Famous show. I have watched in a lot of interviews and appearances (I even had the privilege of interviewing her years ago), but I have never seen Kim break down quite like she did in this interview. Kara clearly had already established a rapport and level of comfort with Kim that allowed this openness.
For me, the most poignant moment came when Kim discussed her efforts to avoid being a has-been, a fear she inherited after realizing that too many child stars have led troubled lives. I almost held my breath when Kim exclaimed she is grateful to be above ground: “I love my life. I love living”. What dark places of the past did Kim see when uttering those thanks?!
Kim said she is projects a “bold humility.” She talked about giving herself permission as she did in this interview. However, she is still working on being comfortable acknowledging everything she has accomplished in life. Kim is definitely no has-been! She has done well to avoid the curse of the child Hollywood star.
I have always noticed Kim has a drive and an ambition to keep moving to the next success. When I started this fan site back in the 1990s, I never imagined almost 30 years later I would STILL be writing about my admiration for her latest work. So I have a good reference point when Kim admitted she actively avoids contentment. To Kim, contentment is the fork in the road that would stop her momentum.
This conversation is not just about Hollywood – it is about resilience, ambition, and a persistent drive.
