Kim Fields Says Bank Black
Kim Fields has taken her community activism to a new level by partnering with The U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. in its campaign to “Bank Black.” In the 75-second video spot below (dated July 25, 2016), Kim exhorts those in the audience who are “serious about social change” to Bank Black. She observes that “economics and credit are at the core of America’s heart.” One way to generate change right now in that heart is acquiring access to credit. Liberty Bank, one of America’s historic Black banks, provides one of those pathways to credit as highlighted by the following promotion…
Bank Black is an effort to encourage investment in the economic health of the U.S. Black community by using financial services from banks committed to investing in the Black community. The latest promotion comes via the Liberty Credit Card. Here is how the U.S. Black Chambers (USBC) describes the effort:
“In the wake of recent police brutality and ongoing acts of social injustice against the Black community; the USBC continues to take an economic-stand by encouraging Black Americans to take Bank-Black a step further by securing a line of credit with a Black bank. The USBC has partnered with one of the nation’s most trusted and historic Black banks– Liberty Bank to create a credit card to support Black entrepreneurs and individuals. Apply today using promo code ‘USBC’.”
Several banks exist in the U.S. with the “Liberty Bank” label in their names. This credit card is offered by Liberty Bank at libertybank.net. The bank describes its mission as follows:
“Liberty’s mission is to provide cost-effective delivery of high quality, innovative, customer driven financial products and services to diverse markets with a focus on disadvantaged minority communities who have traditionally been underserved. Concurrent with the bank’s mission, Liberty strives to maintain the Company’s status as a catalyst for economic and community development while generating fair returns to shareholders and being an excellent corporate citizen.”
The theme of freedom and liberty ring throughout the bank’s descriptions of its services and commitments. This video summarizes the theme with references to words from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and a voiceover from President Barack Obama while declaring freedom is “no longer an abstract idea.”
If you are interested in applying for this credit card, visit the USBC’s website for more information. While you are doing your research, tweet to Kim that she helped you Bank Black!
