Instead of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailyfx.com\/calendar?tz=-7&#038;sort=date&#038;week=2014%2F0706&#038;eur=false&#038;usd=false&#038;jpy=false&#038;gbp=false&#038;chf=false&#038;aud=false&#038;cad=true&#038;nzd=false&#038;cny=false&#038;high=true&#038;medium=false&#038;low=false\" target=\"_blank\">the 20,000 additional jobs expected by the &#8220;consensus&#8221; for June<\/a>, the Canadian economy lost 9,400 jobs. This means that year-over-year, the Canadian economy has only added 72,000 jobs, a growth rate of 0.4% that Statistics Canada described as &#8220;&#8230;the lowest year-over-year growth rate since February 2010, when year-over-year employment growth resumed following the 2008-2009 labour market downturn.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>{snip}<\/p>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_23302\" market<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the same time that employment remains moribund, the high-end of Canada&#8217;s housing market is red hot as reported in <a href=\"http:\/\/sothebysrealty.ca\/blog\/en\/2014\/07\/07\/2014-mid-year-top-tier-real-estate-report\/\" target=\"_blank\">the 2014 Mid-Year Top-Tier Real Estate Report for Canada<\/a> produced by Sotheby&#8217;s International Realty Canada. {snip}<\/p>\n<p>This dynamic represents a slowly increasing dilemma for monetary policy in slow-growth economies (whether it is GDP and\/or employment), and something where <a href=\"http:\/\/seekingalpha.com\/article\/2300285-australias-central-bank-is-not-overly-concerned-with-having-one-of-the-most-expensive-housing-markets-in-the-world\" target=\"_blank\">I have decided to spend more of my attention<\/a>. {snip}<\/p>\n<p>The Sotheby&#8217;s report summarizes some amazingly strong year-over-year growth numbers for residential real estate units from the first half of 2013 to the first half of 2014 (sorted in descending order of growth rates):<\/p>\n<p>{snip}<\/p>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_23310\" coming from this side of the market.
