Over the past several weeks, I have been trying out a visual application for the stock market called StockTouch<\/a>. The application was provided to me for free in exchange for a review. The video at the end of this piece provides an excellent summary of the application’s catchy and powerful features, so I am focusing on a summary of my own personal observations in this review.<\/p>\n

Overall, I love Stocktouch as a quick way to get an overview of the stock market’s performance across a variety of metrics. Its main drawback is the constrained universe of 900 U.S. and 900 global stocks. However, Stocktouch is promising to expand its coverage to thousands of more stocks. In the meantime, even data hungry stock traders should find Stocktouch offers them a handy tool for market data in a pinch.<\/p>\n

The application provides a very intuitive method for visually navigating the stock market. Users new to iPhone\/tablet technology, like myself, may initially overlook the ability to zoom in and out on the market with a pinch or expansion of the fingers. This feature allows users to navigate from a heat map overview of the stock market (U.S. or global) across nine sectors down to the detailed information of a specific stock. Users can arrange the heat map according to market cap, price change, volume, or alphabetical order. The colors in the heat map quickly reveal a stock’s relative position whether it is the differential in performance versus the S&P 500, the price change from last week, or the volume change from yesterday. Users can also quickly see how favorite stocks are performing versus the rest of stocks in a sector. I consider the heat map as one of Stocktouch’s most attractive and compelling features.<\/p>\n

Once users navigate down to a specific stock, they are treated to a wealth of detailed information. One screen compiles together price and volume information, a stock chart chart, and top headlines. A quick tap or swipes allows you to expand upon any of these details. <\/p>\n

While navigating Stocktouch, users can stay on top of the latest quotes from the major indices as they update at the bottom of the screen. At any time, users can navigate to a specific stock with the search feature.<\/p>\n

I highly recommend you give Stocktouch a try. It is fast, up=to-date, and simple to use. Enjoy!<\/p>\n
